SAN SALVADOR — El Salvador's woman was a weighted murder in a controversial case in which authorities claimed she had killed her baby after giving birth and her defenders were suffering from miscarriage. Was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Salvador officials said the woman carried her baby to near maturity and she gave birth in June 2020. After giving birth to her baby, she stabbed it in her neck six times, they said.

A feminist non-governmental organization advocating women, a civic group for banning non-criminalization, said in a Monday report that she was in her home bathroom during the five months of pregnancy. Said she suffered from a miscarriage.

NGO director Morena Elera tells Reuters that a woman identified only as a lesbian tried to cut her umbilical cord herself after a mischief, but she was dark. She said she was at her house. She didn't have electricity.

El Salvador has the world's strictest anti-abortion law, which bans all kinds of dismissals, even if pregnancy poses a danger to the mother's life or is the result of rape or incest. There are several.

The Salvador government did not respond to requests for comment.

"This is not the first time the prosecution has built a story that makes women a complete crime," Elera said.

Leslie was sentenced to 50 years in prison for worsening murder on Wednesday.

Four women were imprisoned and five more were charged in El Salvador in a similar case, according to a civic group for the denunciation of the suspension. (Report by Nelson Renteria, Written by Kylie Madry, Edited by Paul Simao)
