QS's assessment comes after Amira Elghawaby said she cannot meet with the opposition party before she assumes her duties on Feb. 20.
After being told she would not meet with them until she officially assumes her role as the federal government’s representative in the fight against Islamophobia, Québec Solidaire says Amira Elghawaby is not the right person for the job.
The opposition party had wanted to meet with Elghawaby to judge her competence after she had made controversial remarks about Quebecers before being named to the post by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Elghawaby has since apologized for her remarks.

However, QS announced Tuesday that after several conversations, Elghawaby informed the party she could not meet with them before she officially assumes her duties on Feb. 20.
That led the 11-member caucus to meet and unanimously decide that dialogue was not possible with Elghawaby and she was not the person for the job.
QS will table a motion in the National Assembly calling on the Coalition Avenir Québec government to create a plan to fight Islamophobia in Quebec.
