Fans roast Ben Affleck for looking ‘miserable’ and wanting Dunkin’ at Grammys

As far as social media was concerned, Ben Affleck would have rather been at Dunkin’ Donuts than at the Grammys with his wife Jennifer Lopez.

The Oscar winner found himself a trending item on Twitter during the broadcast and into Monday morning after camera operators caught him looking “miserable” throughout the awards show, including during a rousing performance by Stevie Wonder.

“However bad a day you’re having, I promise you’re not as miserable as Ben Affleck at the Grammys right now,” one viewer joked, with another adding, “Ben Affleck wants to be at home with a Dunkin’ coffee so bad.”

“Ben Affleck at the Grammys is a sobering reminder that no matter how rich and famous you are, your lady is still going to drag you to s— you don’t want to go to,” another fan remarked as Affleck’s bored reactions went viral.

“Someone get Ben Affleck a cigarette and a Dunkin’ coffee, stat,” a fourth person suggested.

Meanwhile, other followers snapped his various reactions and teased that he was constantly “checking the clock on the wall.”

More questioned why the Argo star was given such prime placement if he was going to look so disinterested.

“Ben Affleck would rather be anywhere else than front row at the #Grammys2023 watching Stevie Wonder crush Higher Ground,” one watcher observed.

The Chicks in the Office podcast shared another clip set to Simon & Garfunkel’s Sounds of Silence.

“Someone please check on Ben Affleck,” they tweeted alongside a video of Lopez seemingly trying to re-energize the actor. Another person imagined the exchange came about because Affleck was worried Lopez’s ex P Diddy “was going to perform [during the] 50 Years of Hip-Hop” tribute.

Several viewers surmised that the show’s producers were in on the joke. “Whoever keeps cutting to Ben Affleck as he gets more and more exasperated, thank you,” one person cheered.

Sunday night’s ‘miserable’ moment wasn’t the first time the Internet has had some fun with Affleck not being able to hide his emotions.

During the press rounds for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, an interviewer asked Affleck and his co-star Henry Cavill about the mixed reaction the film had been getting. As Ben looked sullen, the strains of Sounds of Silence began to play and the ‘Sad Affleck’ meme was born.

Affleck addressed the moment in subsequent interviews, telling BBC Radio 1 the experience taught him “not to do interviews with Henry Cavill where I don’t say anything and they could lay Simon and Garfunkel tracks over it.”
