Ottawa police said Saturday they have charged a Toronto man with three counts of sexual assault and of criminal harassment.
The department’s sexual assault and child abuse said Don Meredith, 58, of Toronto, was charged for alleged incidents in 2013 and 2014 “reported to police by an adult woman.”

Ottawa police would neither confirm nor deny that the man charged is the former Canadian senator who resigned in 2017.
The resignation following an investigation by the Senate ethics committee that declared him unfit to serve over allegations he had developed an extra-marital relationship with a young girl that eventually became sexual.
Meredith acknowledged the affair, but insisted the relationship was not sexual until the woman turned 18.
He resigned before any attempt to expel him from the Senate.
A subsequent report from the ethics office charged that Matthews created a toxic workplace environment by harassing and threatening staff.
Police said in a release Saturday they are concerned there may be more alleged victims.
Meredith was charged and released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
