Birmingham — Australia Kelsey -Lee Barber won gold at the Commonwealth Games javelin on Sunday after defending his world title last month and then overcoming a bout of COVID-19.

A week earlier, the 30-year-old still tested positive, but she was later cleared to compete in her competition.
She "wasn't going to affect her performance today," Barber said. “I had a lot of confidence in the world and a good feel for the Javelin, so I trusted the process.
Barber looked like he was going for silver behind Mackenzie Little, but he unleashed a mighty 64.43-meter effort on his final pitch, just behind his teammates. He won the title by 16 centimeters.
India's Annu Rani finished on the podium and won the bronze medal.
