The Grouse Grind was closed Sunday and remains closed Monday due to icy conditions.

“If you use the BCMC Route in Grouse Mountain Regional Park, you are advised to use microspikes,” read a warning from the Metro Vancouver authority, which manages the Grouse Mountain Regional Park where the Grouse Grind Trail is located.

“Leave enough time to finish your hike before sunset.”

Earlier this weekend, search crews rescued two young men who were found with clothing frozen solid and shoes soaked wet, after the pair set off for a hike on Lions Trail Saturday without adequate clothing or equipment.

Hikers and adventurers are reminded that weather conditions can be deceptive in the North Shore mountains and trails and to check ahead for signs of snow or ice, pack proper equipment and to leave a trip plan with a friend before setting out.
