Many of the Greater Toronto Area and other parts of Southern Ontario have been subject to special air quality statements byEnvironmentCanadaduring the heat wave.
In a statement, authorities stated that hot and humid weather conditions were causing "increased levels of pollution." The
statement was issued Saturday at 11:23 am to Toronto, Vaughan, Uxbridge, the Peel region, Newmarket and Georgina within the GTA.
The Ministry of the Environment of Canada also issued a heat warning to the city of Toronto shortly after 3:30 pm. He said on Friday that a heat event is expected to hit the city this weekend.

Authorities said high temperatures are expected to reach the low 30s on Saturdays and Sundays.

"Humidex values are expected to be high in the mid-30s," the warning said.
Guelph, Kitchener, Windsor, Sarnia and Burlington were also included in the special air quality statement.
"Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause an increase in ground-level ozone concentrations in the region," the statement said.
"Symptoms such as increased cough, inflammation of the throat, headache, shortness of breath may occur. Children, the elderly, and people with cardiovascular or lung disease such as asthma are especially at risk. Exposed. "
