Hockey Canada Chairman of the Board Michael Brind’Amour resigns from post

The chairman of the Hockey Canada Councilsaid he resigned from his position on Friday night.

Urging Hockey Canada leadership to reform its handling of recent allegations of sexual assault against players, including two incidents in 2003 and 2018 , Michael Brind'Amour has resigned.

In a statement released on Saturday, Brind'Amour said his final term is set to end in November 2022, but said he would "not accept a new I decided to resign because I don't need to wait for the times."

Hockey Canada said its board and members will meet soon to discuss next steps and appoint an interim chairman.

Brind'Amour believes Hockey Canada will address "the key challenges facing our organization and our sport." He said that “immediate action” is essential to that end.

"I have announced my resignation to the Board of Directors due to my inability to follow through with this update."
