Fatal Vernon, British Columbia Suspected Driving Crash: RCMP

The Mounties confirmed Monday that a multiple vehicle crash just south of Vernon Cadet Camp was fatal.

The accident occurred on Route 97 just before 8:30 am on Friday. According to the RCMP, a southbound pickup called a red GMC entered the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

"The red pickup truck then collided with his second oncoming black Toyota SUV, killing two occupants," he said in a RCMP press release.

A 71-year-old male and a 65-year-old female (both from Vancouver) were SUV occupants. The pickup truck driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Poor driving is suspected as the cause of this crash. /We have assistance from the North Okanagan RCMP, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, and BC Coroners' Service," the police said in a release.
