Blake Charbonneau, considered one of Canada’s most-wanted men, was arrested in Mexico and returned to Canada after an escape that lasted more than a year.

Charbonneau, a 35-year-old Laval resident, was wanted by the Integrated Pimping Squad (EILP) — a unified investigation structure involving various police forces such as the Sûreté du Québec, the RCMP and the Montreal police — for pimping and numerous serious sexual offences.

The EILP had registered the individual’s name with the national Bolo program, which uses social networks and signs to warn the population against suspects.

A $50,000 reward had been offered for information on where he could hole up.

Police gave no details of his arrest in Mexico. He then passed through Toronto before being taken care of by EILP police officers.

Charbonneau will appear later at the Quebec City courthouse to answer charges of sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated sexual assault, obtaining sexual services for consideration including to minors and pimping.
