Legault harms Quebec's international reputation, Anglade charges

Coalition Avenir Québec Leader François Legault has stained Quebec’s international reputation with his campaign, Liberal Leader Dominique Anglade said Saturday.

Anglade spoke to the media from Montreal in the morning, surrounded by most of her candidates in the region, before a planned trip to the Gaspésie region and Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

“In the last few days, you have seen the real François Legault, the one who doesn’t want to be criticized, the one who doesn’t like being questioned, the one who doesn’t like science, the one who divides,” she said.

“I’ll tell you frankly, he no longer seems to be tempted to even try. In any case, me, I’m tempted. We’re tempted,” she said.

During the campaign, Legault linked immigration to violence (a statement he later apologized for) and said it would be “suicidal” for Quebec to allow more than 50,000 immigrants a year.
