Talk of Money
Mark Daniel's slice of "Addison Rae ripped apart for disrespecting Jesus in a religious-themed bikini" (August 4), for herself and her sponsors, is impeccable. No, but it reminds me of shrewd money-making corporations. Conclusions are important these days. It has little to do with the impulsive reasoning of "playing with God." In fact, most televangelists have immorally raised millions of dollars in the name of Jesus. Indeed, many other faith traditions would have taken this story by storm, tarring and even feathering this young artist. At least she's on the ball that most Jesus followers don't care about these days. Perhaps we could have used her playful example in our confirmation class. The so-called "prosperity gospel" Piffler disrespects Jesus more than this young woman.

Banning doesn't work
Ban the shooter in the community. A shooter can have a gun within an hour of being on the street. A gun ban does nothing for the criminal elements in our community. The criminal justice system should remove plea bargains from gun crimes. Otherwise nothing will change because the government has no way to stop criminals from accessing guns. The government uses smoke and mirrors to make it look like something is going on.

Illegal Baggage Delay
The Pope has landed at several airports in Canada several times. He and his entourage never seemed to have any delays or baggage issues at our airport. Some might call it a miracle. At one Mass he began reading the Bible from the English version. After that, he smoothly transitions to Spanish. I know the indigenous people have many languages, but it's Spanish. About 1.5% agree, according to the Canadian Census. Then he went to Quebec. His aim was to try to save the church. The 2011 census identified him as Catholic in 75% of Quebec's population, but officials from the Archdiocese of Quebec City said less than 5% of them attended church weekly. I'm assuming there are. But finally, when he flew to Rome, he said: No, he didn't leave us a check about the Catholic Church's obligations to the Indigenous peoples of Canada. The only question for him and his followers is, "How do you sleep at night?" 343} Welland
