STAY POSITIVE
Watching local news on world affairs, I wonder if newscasters are on drugs or just puppets. The story from Canada’s match against Croatia: “Canada scores first goal but eliminated with 4-1 loss to Croatia” (Derek Van Diest, Nov. 28). As a parent, you try to motivate your kid (in defeat) by focusing on positives, and we’re seeing the same thing here. The World Cup is the biggest event on the planet, even bigger than the Olympics. Canada topped our region (Concacaf) in qualifying, ahead of Mexico, U.S.A. and Costa Rica. These teams are very much alive in the competition, though Mexico is unlikely to advance. Maybe we are suffering from the annual affliction known as the Toronto Maple Leafs losing mentality. Don’t get me wrong, the men’s Canadian soccer team has come a long way in a much more competitive environment than the NHL and holds promise for 2026 when we will be hosting some matches. However, while Canada was the better team in their first match, we lost to the overrated world No. 2 who could be going home unless we do them a favour by beating Morocco on Thursday. We had a terrific start against the highly rated Croatians, but the reality of Canada’s inexperience was our undoing. “Game management,” a popular term in soccer, is required when you have a lead, and I’m sure that will be a focus (along with defensive capabilities) as the team prepares for 2026.

WHERE IS JAGMEET?
The inquiry into use of the Emergencies Act seems to have covered a huge number of witnesses in a relatively short time. Everything points to the Liberal government overstepping its authority, and a federal bureaucracy proudly ignoring the wording which controls use of that Act. My question is: Where is “Silent Singh” in all of this? He is the one who chose to prop up this sad excuse of a government. Surely, he has much to answer for, but he is AWOL as Canada is being dismantled.
Peter Birks Mississauga
(Singh doesn’t care about the outcome, he’s more interested in continuing to prop up Trudeau. What we don’t understand is why hasn’t the NDP just capitulated and let the Liberals take them over)
THE COMMIES ARE HERE
There is no doubt in my mind that the Chinese Communist Party’s “United Front Works Department” is in Canada and infiltrating our government, science and technology. Now we are learning they are also here to intimidate some of our citizens. We need Canadians who have direct knowledge to come forward with pertinent information in order to protect all of our citizens and defend Canada.

(We need transparency on this issue and our law enforcement agencies actually doing something about it)
