Listed as underdogs, Jays should be favoured against AL East champion Yankees

By all rights, a Toronto Blue Jays win over the New York Yankees on Wednesday should be the baseball bet of the night.

The Yankees clinched first place in the AL East with Tuesday’s 5-2 win at Rogers Centre, and judging by the giddiness and celebrating we saw clips of from the visitors dressing room, it’s a good guess they kept the party going well into the wee hours.

Do you think they all know Canadian beer still packs more of a wallop than the suds they’re used to south of the border?

Anyway, the Yankees deserved to have themselves a good time after winning the division for just the second time in the last decade.

And why not? They won’t play a game that matters now for another 10 days or so.

The Jays, meanwhile, have a lot at stake tonight.

Along with trying to keep their hold on the top wild card spot – and the home-field advantage that comes with it – they should be playing guilty for the way they performed in the late stages of their 68th defeat.

Young stars Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette should be embarrassed for the Little League-like base-running mistakes they made that extinguished any hope of a comeback.

They should get to the park today with a burning desire to redeem themselves, an increased awareness of what it takes to win, a new level of dedication to victory after watching the Yankees whoop it up in their house.

Jays at the +113 available on Coolbet at noon, or anything close to it, is to be jumped on.

Another wager to consider is on Aaron Judge finally hitting his AL record tying 61st homer of the year.

The Yankees slugger has gone seven games without a dinger, although there wasn’t much he could do on Tuesday, when he was walked four times.

A Judge homer tonight is at an enticing +250 on FanDuel, which also has an odds boosted parlay of a Judge round-tripper and a run scored by George Springer at +650.

Just as appealing should be a BetRivers odds boost to +450 for a Judge homer and Over the 7.5 runs total.

The scheduled starters should help the latter.

Yankees’ Gerrit Cole has allowed four runs in each of his last three outings, while Toronto’s Mitch White is 1-6 with a 5.12 ERA since joining the Jays at the trade deadline.
