Man, 28, charged in two unprovoked attacks on women

Ottawa police have charged a 28-year-old Ottawa main in connection with two assaults on women on Sept. 13 and Sept. 16.

Police issued a warning last week looking for witnesses in connection with the two incidents.

The Sept. 13 incident occurred at about 6 p.m. in the area of Cahill Drive and McCarthy Road when two women walking south on Cahill Drive were approached from behind by a man.

A 58-year-old woman was hit on the head, suffering minor injuries.

The second was Sept. 16 at about 8 p.m. around Uplands Drive and Bennett Street, where a 29-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when a man came towards here.

The victim was struck, receiving minor injuries.

The suspect has been charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and one count of wearing a disguise.

He was to appear in court Saturday.
