Downsview Saturday morning A man dragged from a burning house has died in hospital.
At about 7:30 a.m., two alarm flames ran through a house at 14 Curry Avenue—near Kiel Street and Wilson Avenue.
An unconscious man was taken from the basement of the house.
The 61-year-old victim was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
He was the only one at home at the time.
Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg offered his condolences to the man's family via social media:
"@Toronto_Fire On behalf of all of us at Calais send our condolences to the family, friends and all those affected by this tragic fire on Calais Avenue," he said, later tweeting. } Did.
"My deepest condolences for this tragic loss of life," Pegg added.

Nearly 70 firefighters joined the blaze on Saturday morning in difficult conditions with temperatures and humidity triggering a heat wave warning in Toronto.

He was able to announce that the fire was under control by 10:00 am on Saturday.
Police and the Ontario Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
