Man dead after early morning shooting in Brampton

A man is dead after a shooting early Friday in Brampton put a nearby daycare into lockdown.

Peel Regional Police were called to the Queen St. E. and Rutherford Rd. N. area just before 7 a.m. and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a trauma centre with in life-threatening condition but police said less than hour later that he did not survive.

Rise and Shine Daycare was locked down “as a precaution,” police say.

There was no immediate information on the victim’s identity or any suspects.

Cops say to expect a large police presence in the area “for some time.”
