A man dies in a quarrel with a Longueuil police officer

An independent police guard dog in Quebec is investigating a 41-year-old death.

LONGUEUIL — A 41-year-old man died in ashift with Longueuil police on Sunday night, analyzed by an independent police guard in Quebec.

The first police officer to arrive at the scene found a man in possession of a baton. Then the man tried to attack the policeman, BEI said, and physical quarrels continued.

During the quarrel, the unidentified man lost consciousness. He was taken to the hospital and then died, BEI said on Monday. Other details were not immediately available.

Five BEI investigators have been assigned to investigate the status of the event. Parallel investigations are conducted by Sûreté du Québec, which also acts as a support police service.
