A 38-year-old man is in critical condition after a drug-related fight in Montreal North turned violent. Another man, in his 20s, was arrested at the scene.
According to Montreal police, the altercation broke out shortly before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Charny Str. and Laurier Ave. When police arrived, the victim, who was intoxicated and half-conscious, had upper body injuries caused by “the use of physical force,” police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said.

The victim was still in critical condition, “but stable,” Chèvrefils said at around 8 p.m.
The 23-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and was expected to be interviewed by investigators in the evening.
Witnesses interviewed by police said a drug-related conflict that escalated was the cause of the dispute between the two men.
