KAMLOOPS — RCMP shot dead man

They were killed at 5 p.m. About 20 minutes later, a woman called the 911 operator with what sounded like a car. On Sunday, someone else reported a woman trying to get out of a erratically moving vehicle, and a third caller reported that her relatives and children had been kidnapped.

According to the RCMP, emergency response officers headed to the local facility shortly before 9:00 pm. When the suspect's car was called near the trailer, a man showed up with a weapon and a child about six hours later.

The man was shot dead during the ensuing "fight" with police, they said, and the woman was found with non-life-threatening injuries in her trailer.

The cavalry then said officers went to the suspect's house and found a second woman detained and wounded.

British Columbia's police watchdog, the Independent Investigation Service, has been called to investigate the fatal shooting.
