York Regional Police

A man is in serious condition after being stabbed during the sale of a dog in Vaughan on Wednesday evening.

York Regional Police were called to a residence on Crooked Stick Rd., in the area of Steeles Ave. W. and Dufferin St., at 10:15 p.m.

Const. Laura Nicolle says a man and a woman at the residence had met with a man and a woman in order to sell an American Doodle dog. She says the four people got into an altercation.

“When we got there, an adult male (from the residence) was suffering from a stab wound and the woman (from the residence) had her cellphone stolen,” Nicolle said, adding there isn’t much more information at this time but the investigation is ongoing.

The man was taken to hospital and police say he’s expected to survive.

The suspects fled.

The dog wasn’t taken or injured.
