Men and women charged with five attempted murders after Brampton shooting: police

A man and a woman were charged with five counts of attempted murder last week following a shooting behind an apartment building inBramptonlast week, according to police.

Peel Local Police said the shooting occurred on Dixie Road and Queen Street around 1:20 am on August 11.

Police said the five victims were in the green space behind the apartment building.

One victim was taken to a trauma center in serious condition and a second victim was treated and discharged.

Three were not injured.

On Thursday, police executed a search warrant for "several houses" in Brampton, police said.

Brampton residents Jaheim Powell, 19, and his girlfriend Emely Nagulendran, 23, were arrested. , was charged with five counts of attempted murder.

Powell was also charged with possession for trafficking purposes and possession of a prohibited device.

Police said they both appeared in court in Brampton.
