Manitova First State organizations have filed suit against the federal government for violating the treaty's promise of land ownership.
According to Manitova's Treaty Land Ownership Commission (TLEC), the lawsuit concerns an additional 1.1 million acres of reserves promised to TLEC First Nations 25 years ago.

Since then, just according to TLEC, 565,000 acres have been secured.
"Canada's continued breach of the treaty's promise to provide reserve land to our first country continues during this National Indigenous History Month," said TLEC President. Nelson Genaille said.
"Therefore, we claim economic and cultural and psychological losses that date back to the conclusion of the treaty with the King due to the failure and delay in providing Canada's reserves."
