Montreal police seek motive in Cartierville stabbing

A man who was critically wounded after being stabbed Monday afternoon was listed on Tuesday morning as being in stable condition.

The incident occurred a little before 2 p.m., when officers patrolling the city’s Cartierville district received a report that a man had been attacked.

The victim was found lying at the corner of Grenet and de Salaberry Sts., his wounds making officers fear for his life.

The 40-year-old man was taken to hospital. His condition by Monday night was listed as stable.

The victim is known to police but the motive for the stabbing remains obscure. He will be questioned by investigators when his health permits.

No arrests have been made thus far in the case.
