NCC re-opens some pathways closed by flooding

Following floods that devastated the capital region this spring, many of the areas affected are slowly returning to normal.

The National Capital Commission announced over Twitter on Friday that the Ottawa River Pathway from the Rideau Canal locks to Bank Street has re-opened, as has the Gatineau River Pathway from the Rapidbus to Fournier Boulevard.

The portion of the Ottawa River Pathway west of Bank Street to the Portage Bridge, however, will remain closed for the time being. In response to readers’ tweets asking when pathways west of Bank Street would re-open, the NCC responded that it was working on it, and that a further update would be presented at next Wednesday’s annual public meeting.
