“As part of the system test, there may be sirens heard in the surrounding area. These are part of the test and will be limited to a few minutes at the start of the night,” said Mainroad.
Meanwhile, construction continues on the Pattullo replacement project. This week, Fraser Crossing Partners will be pile-driving in Surrey between 7 and 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Work is also underway on bridge foundations in the river on both the Surrey and New Westminster sides, including construction of the bridge tower.
Crews are also working on rehabilitating the Royal Avenue overpass, and will soon be doing intersection improvements on McBride Boulevard and East Columbia Street.
On the Surrey side, construction of bridge and off-ramp foundations also continues, along with ongoing site preparation, relocating of utilities and road work on 112th Avenue.
Transportation Investment Corporation, a provincial Crown corporation, is delivering and overseeing the $1.377-billion project. The bridge is due for completion in 2024, at which time the existing bridge will be removed.
