Lima-Peruvian President Pedro Castillo said on Twitter that he had not accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Aníbal Torres, adding that Torres has promised to continue working for the country.

Appointing Torres as prime minister means that the administration does not have to ask Congress for a new vote of no confidence, eliminating significant risks.

Meanwhile, Treasury Minister Oscar Graham is expected to leave the government after the cabinet reshuffle, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters Friday.

Castillo was able to carry out his fifth cabinet reshuffle in just one year after taking office late Friday. (Report by Marco Aquino and Marcelo Rochabrun; edited by Kim Coghill)
