Pete Alonso hit two home runs, including eight go-a-head blasts, when the New York Mets beat host Miami Marlins 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.

This was Alonso's 14th Career Multihomer game. He hit 22 home runs this season, leading the major with 68 RBIs.

Brandon Nimmo in New York doubled his run score in 9th place, 3-5.

Chris Bassitt (6-5) won, allowing 3 runs, 6 hits and no walks. He hit five.

Edwin Diaz beat the side in 9th place 1-2-3 with his 16th save this year and his second save in two days.

Miami was led by Jesús Sanchez (two-run homer) and Brian de la Cruz (solo shot).

Relief Jimmy Yacabonis (0-1) lost because he allowed Alonso's second home run.

Trevor Rogers of Miami allowed 3 runs, 7 hits and 1 walk in 4 1/3 innings and escaped without making a decision. He hit five.

New York started scoring twice in a 346-foot opposite field home run to the right of Alonso.

Mets extended his fourth lead to 3-0 in a rally that began with a Starling Marte single. Francisco Lindor's stunning dive into second place gave him a double in a play that seemed to be the first inning. Mark Canha then scored a RBI and Eduardo Escobar scored a 3:36 slump with a Lanscore single.

Miami closed the deficit 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a 381-foot home run in Sanchez pulled to the right. It could have been a three-run explosion, but in previous play Garrett Cooper was thrown out trying to go from 1st to 3rd in the Jesús Aguilar group single. Cooper was nailed to a powerful on-the-fly throw from Marte's right.

Miami scored 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Delacruz soared a line drive 370 feet away from the left fielder pole.

Alonso's second home run — which was measured at a huge 433 feet — gave Mets an eighth 4-3 lead.

James McCann, who played his first match since breaking his left wrist on May 17, became a single in 9th place and Nemo's double first towards the right center wall. Scored from.
