The  Blue Jays may have clinched a playoff spot and are on track for another 90-win season, but they are also among the worst bets in baseball when it comes to wagering against the spread.

But when backed to cover the run line (either favourite or underdog of 1.5 runs as this type of baseball wager generally works), they are just 68-88 or the third-worst record in the majors and only one better than the White Sox, who are the worst at 67-88.

The Jays have played in 49 one-run games, winning 30 of those, another factor in their so-so record on the run line.

Generally, teams that are good as underdogs perform well in this area. No surprise, then, that the Baltimore Orioles have the best against the spread record in the majors at 97-58. Second are the Los Angeles Dodgers at 93-62.
