Police investigating alleged 'door-to-door' home renovation scam in Halton area

Police are alerting residents to two men allegedly involved in a home repair scam believed to be operating in the Halton area.

Investigators say he has launched investigations into two cases in which a visiting contractor sold construction services unsolicited and failed to complete the work.

Suspects are described as his two men with Irish or possibly Scottish accents, approximately six feet tall and of stocky build.

In both cases, a young man who claimed to be his son was with him.

This scam is suspected of targeting seniors and includes below-market quotes in exchange for large cash payments.

"Based on complaints, initial work may begin, but work is substandard or unsatisfactory." It could be complete," Halton Police said. release.

"Once final payment was received, contractors disappeared, calls and texts went unanswered, and consumers were left with damaged or partially completed projects."

Detectives believe there may be other victims and are looking for anyone who may have been in contact with the suspect.
