Police search for missing elderly man with dementia last seen in West Edmonton

Police are asking the people of Edmont for tips in an attempt to locate the missing man last seen on the western edge of the city.

In his release of news issued Thursday night, police said he was looking for Rudolf, 79, and Newell.

"Police are concerned for his well-being because Newell has dementia and his family and friends have been unable to contact him," police said.

Police said Newell was said to have left an elderly residence in the neighborhood of 95th Street and he 103A Avenue around 8 p.m. on wednesday. He was last seen approximately three hours later at the Jasper Place Transit Center at 157 Street and Stoney Plain Road.

Newell is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes. Police said he was last seen wearing dark pants, a dark jacket with a hood, and a baseball cap.
