Police investigation into armed bank robbery killing two people in Saanich, British Columbia

The Sanitch Police Department provided up-to-date information on the investigation of armed bank robbers earlier this week on Thursday afternoon.

Two suspects died on Tuesday when gunshots were exchanged outside the Bank of Montreal on Shelbourne Street, a residential area in Saanich, southern Vancouver Island.

Six police officers were injured. Three of them remain in the hospital and police say they will undergo more surgery and treatment in the coming weeks. Yesterday, Saanich police said the explosive device was found in a vehicle linked to a suspected robber and was safely disposed of in a local landfill.

Police say they have not yet ruled out the possible involvement of a third suspect , but there is no information to convince them that they are at risk to the public.
