Raptors’ Terence Davis charged with alleged assault of girlfriend, endangering welfare of child

Davis had a good rookie season, playing in a Raptors-high 72 games and made the all-rookie second team, but mostly fell out of the rotation in the playoffs.

He had been admonished by Raptors senior leadership back in August when he arrived for a game at the NBA’s bubble in Orlando wearing a mask with a hole in it after previously sharing COVID-19 conspiracy theories on social media.

Davis’s contract is non-guaranteed for 2020-21 until free agency starts sometime in November.

Back in December of 2018, the Raptors immediately released point guard Kay Felder when police charged him with domestic violence. Felder was playing for Raptors 905 in Mississauga at the time.

Raptors guard Terence Davis was arrested in New York City on Tuesday night for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

The New York Police Department says Davis got into an argument with a woman around 8:30 p.m. at the luxury highrise Beekman Tower in Manhattan. He allegedly slapped her in the face and broke her screen when he grabbed her phone, according to police.

TSN’s Rick Westhead acquired the criminal complaint against Davis which outlined seven charges, including endangering the welfare of a child. The child is less than two years old (born in 2019, according to the criminal complaint.

TSN reported his next court date is Dec. 11.

Raptors director of media relations Jennifer Quinn told Postmedia, “We are aware of the reports and are seeking more information.”

Davis, 23, surprisingly went undrafted in 2019 after starring at Ole Miss and was signed by the Raptors — who beat out other teams for his services — after strong showings at the NBA’s combine and at Summer League in Las Vegas.
