The New England Revolution terminated the contract of midfielder Erner Traustasson on Tuesday.
MLS clubs formally announced the move on Wednesday, calling the separation reciprocal.
Several media outlets have reported that Traustasson has signed with Sweden's IFK He Norkoping.
Traustasson, 29, has recorded 1 of his assists in 15 games (five starts) this season.
The Icelandic native joined Levs last season from Malmö FF in Sweden, where he has scored two goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances (19 starts) as the Supporters Shield winner. Recorded.
