Rex Murphy: Tamara Lich is not dangerous. Unequal application of the law

If the cheesy harassment of the Canada Convoy organizers had never happened, Canada Day would have been better for all of us

We all have to thank another Canadian day, Ottawa Is still standing.

I think we need to give legitimate praise and gratitude to the Trudeau government, regardless of political taste.

A very volatile country, like poor Canada, on the verge of rebellion, capsizing, and cancellation, even if nothing else (and some of its qualifications) How lucky it is to have a leader (controversial)! ) Prevented our ever-destroying fragments of the Union from splashing into the historic void.

"Yes, Justin Trudeau" I cry and hear a million fun echoes.

How did we and our big city, Ottawa, "overcome" another Canada Day? Well then, Ottawa is still standing.

The answer lies in the lips of all patriotic Canadians.

And here it is. Rebel instigator, coup queen, sneaky rebel, and escort convenor Tamara Lich were re-arrested in the infamous terrorist hideout Medicine Hat before national holidays. And she was sealed and put in jail because she would do her harm again.

I think it is correct to thank the Trudeau government for its preemptive genius.

It's too much to ask patriotism what Canada Day was like and what the poor people in Ottawa were like. During our country's birthday festival, with birds, Medicine Hat (probably going to the mall or stopping by shoppers to pick up Adville). Did Canada survive?

I doubt it.

What would Canada Day be if Tamara Lich was free as a bird?

Japanese police discovered her suspicion of violating bail conditions and immediately issued a "warrant across Canada" for her arrestwarrant. But the usual caution — "Keep away — the suspect is dangerous — may vote for Pierre Poirievre." — But I'm sure they were very cautious.

Stop here for a moment.

I attended a recent supper held by the Judicial Center for Constitutional Freedom and next to the horrifying rebels who were there to win theAward. I was sitting in. Part of the evening. My impression. Very polite, humble and most enjoyable conversationist to those who come to chat and take pictures. She looks more or less like any other ordinary Canadian and is a subtle mixture of self-deprecation and shyness in public notice, which is almost characteristic of our kind.

I left the supper very confused. Thiswas a woman whom the Government of Canada considered threatening the integrity of our country. 2022 Robespierre of Canada. Did the government actually abolish the emergency law for this woman?

Another small stop. These same police act very quickly to find "rich threats" — they are always so ready and this is powerful and efficient.

Where were they and where were they about the torrents of vandalism and arson over more than 50 churches last year? Did they jump to "arrested, no bail" when the court's injunction was laughed at for the endless environmental protests of the last decade? Did they leap to wipe them out when the railroads were blocked and threatened the nation's commerce and security? Charges radicals. Go to all SWATs to "unleash" headless radicals from roads and entrance locations and send them to prison cells.

For breach of bail conditions, have the police or courts, especially courts, respond as rigorously as those involved in gun and gangster crimes. People released from prison, in particular, commit further crimes while on bail.

  1. Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino

Rex Murphy: MeekEmergenciesAct hearing turns into a circus

  2. Public Safety Marco Mendicino is seen on Feb. 15, 2022, the day after it was announced the government was invoking the Emergencies Act to deal with the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa. A parliamentary committee is now holding an inquiry into the use of the act.

Rex Murphy: Because of his integrity, Marco Mendicino

    must be resigned

It is great to say that the rule of law must always be respected and upheld. I strongly agree.

However, if a court or police offer a very carefully selected and uneven application of the law, or at least if it appears to have, it is neither respected nor endorsed, and in fact I'm being ridiculed. Police caught Tamara Lich's bail breach in Medicine Hat and were able to move at perfect speed, and a few months later in a "systematic violent attack" on oil and gas sitesnot yet anywhereBritish Columbia — Does anything in our judicial system look imbalanced or uneven?

will return you to the original question. From the bottom of my heart, this massive attention to a citizen who, in her own view, thought it appropriate to protest aspects of government policy, regardless of your political taste, could be justified in some way. Do you believe

The threat to Canada's stability and survival is Tamara Lich. How dangerous is she? Is the government, and the judiciary, right to put her in the brightest part of the radar scope? By imprisoning her. First we offer no bail. And now grab her again and fly her to Ottawa to increase her prison time. Is she treated differently because of the nature of her cause?

Does the law work according to the type of protest? Do what you like as long as you say you are saving the tree. Protest the COVID regulations that hurt your livelihood — it's not.

In all the environmental protests this country has seen, some who participated in them or were their leaders saw immediate arrests and prisons. Have they been denied bail? Or did they carry the emergency law out of its dusty closet, with its full power and a cessation of civil liberties for both leaders and participants?

Or, this is the wrath of the king, and those who have frozen their bank accounts and donated to Sierra or Greenpeace are labeled as "foreign" influences.

Does the law work according to the type of protest?

It will be a cold global warming day when protests against the environment will draw the attention of police and courts, such as those received by truck driver rallies.

It's possible that I was wrong at the beginning of this column by praising the Trudeau government for saving Canada from Tamara Lich (I know very rarely). ).

In my personal opinion, she is not radical, not a major social threat, but a person who has lost her way into the current sneaky and timid politics, and is innocent of its many confusing dynamics. There is a storm she caused, welcomed, or not fully understood.

In addition, our very sensitive and impartial preaching government is committed to abusing women who have considered making rational protests with the conscience of their citizens. And demanded power.

It would have been a better Canada Day for all of us if there had never been a gentle and cheap harassment of Tamara Rich. Don't expect the growing respect for the rule of law. It, worrisomely, caused a decline in its respect.

As a final note, I think Tamara Rich spoke at the George Jonas Freedom Award-winning supper.

I was happy to be asked. I'm glad I went.
