For golfers who don't like to play the role of spokesperson for the PGA Tour, Rory McIlroy is free to speak out about the LIV Golf Series and the pals who jumped on the circuit.

Wednesday was no exception.

McIlroy has responded to a court ruling upholding a PGA Tour ban against three players who filed temporary injunctions to play in the FedEx Cup playoffs beginning this week in Memphis, Tennessee.

McIlroy said Wednesday, "From my standpoint, common sense prevailed and I thought it was the right decision." We can move on.There will be no sideshows in the next few weeks. This is great.”

LIV Golf Members Talrah Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones , went to court in hopes of playing in the first event of the playoffs, the St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwinds. The trio were eligible for inclusion until they broke ranks to join the LIV.

"I think the resentment from the members of this tour is the fact that they are trying to come back here without results. It will feel very unfair to them," said McIlroy. said.

"Yesterday was a good day for the tour and for the majority of the members."

"No," said McIlroy. “I don't think it's my job to be here and stick to the tools or be the spokesperson. It was the perfect time to agree.”
