Part of Jasper Avenue closed until fall 2023 due to bridge replacement

A one-block section ofJasper Avenue will be closed next week and will not reopen until Fall 2023.

Edmonton is closing Jasper Avenue between He 90th and 91st Streets for the replacement of the Latta Bridge. Road closures are expected to begin the week of he Aug. 22 and last through the fall of 2023, according to a city news release Wednesday morning.

Located northeast of 91st Street and southwest of 90th Street along Jasper Avenue, the Latta Bridge was originally built in 1911. It now includes his four-lane traffic across the Latta Valley. An evaluation completed in December 2019 recommended a complete replacement of the bridge.

Latta Bridge Replacement In this project, the existing bridge will be demolished and rebuilt to incorporate a new shared walkway.

Detours for Pedestrians, Cyclists, Drivers and Moderators Starting August 22nd is installed.

ETS Bus Routes 2 and 101 bypass the 111 Avenue and 84th Street stops and use the Stadium Transit Center stop instead. Route 2 buses also serve stops at Stadium Road, 107 Avenue, and 95 Street.

ETS will also operate Route 998 (Stadium Shuttle), a new shuttle that circulates between the east side of Stadium Station (111 Avenue and 84 Street) and Jasper Avenue and 87 Street. For more information on ETS detours, visit theCity website at.

Pedestrians, cyclists, and other active transit users can detour along 90th Street to 105A Avenue to 92nd Street.

In addition to demolition and installation of new bridges, other activities such as street landscaping, installation of new light polys, landscaping and utility adjustments will be undertaken.

The city said construction on the nearby Kinnaird Bridge Rehabilitation Project is expected to begin in spring 2023.
