Two Philadelphia Police were shot near Benjamin Franklin Parkway as thousands of people celebrated the July 4 concert and fireworks show and crowds were panicked and scattered, according to local Philadelphia police officials.
The shooting was a July 4 parade in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, where rooftop gunners fired at flag-waving families and children riding bicycles. It took place hours after 6 people were killed and more than 36 were injured. ..
Both Philadelphia police officers were in a stable condition after suffering a life-threatening injury, CBS3 Philadelphia quoted from the police station. The police were looking for a shooter.
A video quoted by local media showed people running from Benjamin Franklin Parkway after the ammunition was fired.
On the final day of the festival, where many people are watching the fireworks show after the concert, a shooting took place late Monday near the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
"There is a security incident at Benjamin Franklin Parkway," emergency officials said, referring to the shooting.
Police have instructed people in surrounding buildings to evacuate to their designated locations.
"I didn't hear the shot, but the policeman was like" running, running, running, "a woman told NBC affiliates.
