The newcomers made their presence felt Saturday night as Sporting Kansas City beat the LA Galaxy 4-2 in Kansas City. Eric Tommy and William Agada joined the club in the mid-season transfer window and combined his three goals in the first half.

Agada doubled after Tommy gave Sporting the lead.

Chicharito scored in the 83rd minute to avoid a shutout and scored his kick from a penalty in stoppage time. However, Daniel Saroy recovered a low clearance and Galaxy keeper Jonathan Bond slid it for the clincher. They held a 6-to-6 advantage and had a 9-to-3 advantage in shots on target. Thanks to Bond's valiant efforts (4 saves), the Galaxy held on to the match.

The Galaxy (9-11-3, 30 points) entered the game two points behind Seattle and Portland, tied for the seventh playoff spot, and three points behind Nashville . Seattle and Nashville lost, and Portland played later on Saturday.

Sporting KC (6-14-5, 23 points) lost his final five games at home for the first time in club history. Sporting won by multiple goals for the first time this season.

Tommy made his name on the scoresheet in his 10th minute. He collected a beautiful pass from Roger Espinoza with his chest and fended off Bond with his right foot. It was Tommy's first goal in MLS since joining Sporting KC on 23 July.

Bonds stopped his kick for Johnny Russell's penalty. Sporting scored a penalty when Derrick Williams was called for a handball inside the box.

It was ruled that Bonds had saved all three of his shots, although Agada had three consecutive shots in his 40th minute from very short range. However, VAR changed the call and gave Agada his first goal in MLS.

Agada scored his second goal in stoppage time. Saroj received the pass on the right flank and scored two for Agada in the center of the box.

As impressive as the offensive burst was, the SKC defense held the Galaxy to just one shot in the first half, while Sporting made him 11.
