Surrey High School's teaching license has been revoked for 15 years.
High school teachers in Surrey are licensed for 15 years after development. Revoked intimate relationship with a former student.
According to a consent resolution agreement posted last week, teachers have a pattern of breaking professional boundaries by forming relationships with students and further developing those relationships after graduation. was
The teacher said that from 2005 to her 2008, she developed personal relationships with three students and had "inappropriate intimate relationships" with them shortly after graduation.
Neither the teacher nor the school in Surrey where he taught was named on the contract. Students were identified as students A, B, and C.
A teacher became intimate with student A shortly after she graduated. During this time, the teacher spent time with the students and sent them instant his messages containing sexual content, the agreement said.
He also developed a close relationship with Student C shortly after she graduated and told the student, "I noticed that the school staff were concerned about this relationship. Sometimes I taught him how to "protect" him.
The teacher also contacted Student B via Instant His Messenger program and invited the student to meet socially after he turned nineteen.
"The teacher used his position of trust as a teacher to extract sensitive personal information from two students and use that information for personal gain." said the Teacher Regulatory Commissioner, who oversees the disciplinary process for BC's certified teachers.
First qualified in 1996, the teacher has not taught in the K-12 system since taking leave in April 2015. He resigned from the Surrey School District in December 2020. The
school district reported the incident to the Commissioner in March 2021.
In April, the teacher entered into a consent settlement agreement and he admitted himself. The conduct constituted professional misconduct and I agreed to have my teaching license revoked for 15 years.
