Patrol officers made an arrest in an assault and stabbing reported on Rideau Street Wednesday evening but police are still seeking information in their investigation of the incident.
The Ottawa Police Service said that the victim was walking in the stretch of Rideau Street between the Chateau Laurier and William Street at about 6:38 p.m. when a stranger bumped into him then pulled out a knife and slashed his hand.

Officers located a suspect nearby soon after and he remains in custody, police said Thursday afternoon.
