Budapest — American Hunter Armstrong boys after being disqualified at the World Championships in Budapest on Saturday after his compatriot Justinless was disqualified for first touching the wall because he was completely submerged in the finish. I won a gold medal in a 50m backstroke.

Les set the pace in the heat and semi-finals, looking for gold until authorities determined that no part of his body was above the surface when he reached the wall.

Polish teenager Ksawery Masiuk won the silver medal and Italy's Thomas Czechon set a new world record in the 100m backstroke early in the tournament.

Former Olympic champion Ruta Meilutite won the gold medal in the women's 50m breaststroke, surpassing Italy's Benedetta Pilat by 0.10 seconds, and South Africa's Larafannie Kerk returned in 3rd place.

Lithuanian Meilutyte received a 24-month suspension in 2019 due to her anti-doping breach and returned to her competitive action only in December last year.
