Britannia beach samples had the highest number of bacteria, but OPH also recommends swimming in Mooneys Bay, Petry Island East Bay, and Petry Island River Beach. I didn't.

The scorching hot weather broke as a storm rolled through Shirleys Bay along the Ottawa River where paddlers were enjoying the sunshine and made their way in to shore as the storm hit, Sunday, August, 7, 2022. Paddlers load up their canoe in the pouring rain Sunday afternoon.

Monday's Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is raining Because of the beach under the public supervision of the city.

Water samples collected on the beach showed elevated levels of E. coli on some beaches, according to theOPH website.

Britannia beach samples had the highest bacterial counts, but OPH also did not recommend swimming in Mooneys Bay, Petry Island East Bay, or Petry Island River Beach.

Those who choose to swim, ignoring OPH's recommendations, should not enter the water with the wound open and do not swallow or put the water in their mouth. Take a shower as soon as possible after getting into the water. According to the agency's website, sprinkle water, wash your hands carefully with soap and treated water, or rub with alcohol-based hands after playing with sand.

Heavy rains can causespills and cause dirty water.
