VANCOUVER — Telus Corp. says its net profit increased 45% in the most recent quarter. The number of customers using mobile phones and the Internet is increasing.
Second-quarter net income for Vancouver telecommunications companies increased to $498 million from $344 million a year ago.
Earnings were 34 cents per share for the period ended June 30, an increase of 36% from 25 cents per share.
On an adjusted basis, Telus reported a profit of $422 million for the quarter, up more than 21% from $348 million for the same period in 2021.
Net income increased by 93,000, according to the company. New mobile phone subscribers and 34,000 net new Internet service customers this quarter.
Second quarter revenues reached $4.4 billion, up 7% from $4.1 billion a year ago.
