Alexander Zverev, who hopes to return from injury to play for Germany at September's Davis Cup, said on Thursday that an early return at the US Open is a real possibility.
The 25-year-old world No. 2 underwent surgery after torturing ligaments in his right ankle when facing Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals of this year's French Open. Hope he's ready for his final grand slam.
"Of course we will try to qualify for the US Open, but it will be very, very close," Zverev told reporters at a pre-major press conference starting August 29.
