Keown Keeley, who was ranked the top defensive end in the 2023 recruiting class by ESPN and 247 Sports, was sacked by Notre Dame on Wednesday.
His five-star recruit from Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa announced no new destination.
Keeley tweeted. I really appreciate this opportunity. Making decisions that will ultimately affect my life path is extremely difficult, to say the least.
"That being said, I am resigning from Notre Dame. Everyone understands that I need to find the right path. Thank you very much."
The news comes two weeks after Alabama's Five Star Running Back recruit Richard Young tweeted. In addition to Notre Dame, his latest visit to Ohio State-Tuscaloosa came after he had already committed to Fighting Irish. Coordinator and linebackers coach Marcus Freeman heads into his first season as head coach at Notre Dame. The Irish player finished his 11-2 season in a Fiesta Bowl loss to Oklahoma State University, and he ranks fifth in his preseason Associated Press polls.
Alabama finished first in his preseason AP poll following a season that went 13-2 and lost to Georgia in the national championship game.
