The US Food and Drug Administration is looking at ways to allow foreign baby formula makers to continue selling domestically beyond the current shortage, health regulators said Wednesday.

To alleviate the nationwide shortage of infant formulas, the FDA in May announced that it would allow imports of baby formulas until November 14.

The FDA will provide further guidance in September on how companies that are temporarily allowed to ship baby formulas to the United States will meet the authorities' requirement to continue supplying them after mid-November. It will be issued.

"Many of the companies that offer these formula products are interested in continuing to serve the US market permanently," the FDA said.

In February, Abbott Laboratories recalled an infant formula manufactured at a plant in Michigan, exacerbating the ongoing shortage of baby formulas in the country. (Report by Manas Mishra and Mrinalika Roy of Bengalul, edited by Shounak Dasgupta and Maju Samuel)
