Upstart Inter Miami chasing breakthrough vs. Union

Miami’s Luis Robles, the 2015 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year with the New York Red Bulls, believes the team will be able to get past the tough loss against Orlando City.

“The chemistry in this locker room is phenomenal,” Robles said. “I believe it’s on that foundation that we can change this, that we can start getting points, that we can start getting wins.”

Philadelphia (1-1-1, 4 points) earned a 1-0 victory Thursday over Group A favorite New York City FC behind the standout play of goalie Andre Blake (seven saves) and an Alejandro Bedoya goal in the 63rd minute.

A victory over the Inter Miami would all but guarantee the Union a spot in the tournament’s round-of-16 knockout stage.

“(Inter Miami) have a very strong group, one that we’ll have to be on our A-game to be able to get a result,” Union coach Jim Curtin said.
