Council awarded a $67 million contract for the initial  phase of the project, which includes a new  library, town hall and public square.

The contract was awarded to the lowest bidder, Groupe Geyser de Laval.

The city noted five bids were received in the second tender process for the project. Last year, the first call for tenders was canceled due to market conditions and the fact that only one bid had been submitted.

The new city hall and the library will be located inside a single structure on Émile-Bouchard Street.

An aquatic complex will be built in a subsequent phase of the project depending on the availability government subsidy programs.
