What's open and closed on Easter weekend in Montreal

Here’s a partial list of what will be open or closed during Easter weekend in Montreal:

Espace pour la vie installations, which include the newly opened Insectarium, the Biodôme, Botanical Garden, Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan and Biosphère, will be open throughout the long weekend. The city strongly recommends purchasing tickets online in advance.

The city of Montreal’s sport and cultural centres will keep varying hours set by individual boroughs throughout the weekend. People are advised to contact specific centres for schedule information.

Montreal libraries will be closed on Sunday. Montrealers are asked to consult individual schedules online for the rest of the weekend.

Accès Montréal service counters will be closed from Friday to Monday. Many municipal services are available online.

All online services offered by the city of Montreal will be accessible throughout the weekend, but requests made by email during the long weekend will only be handled as of Tuesday.

The collection of garbage, recycling and compost will be carried out according to regular borough schedules throughout the long weekend.

All of the city’s ecocentres will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to Monday.

Montreal’s municipal courthouse and its service counters will be closed throughout the long weekend. The courthouse on Gosford St. will be available only for people who are detained during the weekend.

Exo buses will operate on Saturday schedules on Friday and services will be reduced Monday. For Exo trains on Friday, the Vaudreuil-Hudson line will operate on Sunday hours, the St-Jérôme will operate on weekend hours, and the other lines will not operate at all. Regular schedules resume Monday. Regular trips for Exo’s adapted transit line are cancelled unless otherwise indicated by the client for medical trips.

Réseau de transport de Longueuil buses will run on a special holiday schedule on Friday and Monday. Adapted transit will operate on the Saturday schedule both days.

On Friday and Monday, the Société de transport de Laval will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Société de transport de Montréal buses and métros run on holiday schedules Friday and Monday.

The Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec will be closed on Friday and Monday.

On Friday and on Saturday, all Société des alcools du Québec stores will be open. On Easter Sunday, all SAQ Express stores will be open and most SAQ Classique stores will be open. Most of the SAQ Sélection stores will be closed and all of the SAQ Dépôt branches will be closed.

Société québécoise du cannabis stores will be closed on Sunday.

Most Canada Post offices will be closed on Friday and Monday, but those inside other businesses may operate according to those business hours.

Most malls will be closed on Sunday.

Most large grocery stores in Quebec will be closed on Sunday. Smaller stores are permitted to stay open.
